Drill Kits

Idea

Packages or kits of targets that align with predefined drills. A kit is a template specifying which targets, layouts, and materials are needed to run a specific drill or set of drills. Kits can be used as-is or customized by adding/removing targets.

Motivation

  • Lowers the barrier to running drills — users don’t have to figure out what targets to buy or how to set them up
  • Creates a natural product tie-in: T.REX ARMS sells the physical targets, RDP tells you which ones you need
  • Standardization enables meaningful score comparison (see Official vs custom kit scoring)
  • Templates with customization give flexibility without overwhelming new users

Open Questions

  • Is a kit a standalone entity or part of a drill definition?
  • Can users create and share their own kits?
  • How are kits displayed — visual layout diagram, simple parts list, or both?
  • Should kits link to a product catalog (T.REX ARMS store) for purchasing targets?
  • How does this interact with the drill builder?
  • Are kits versioned? If a kit changes, do existing drills reference the old version?
