Drill Kits
Idea
Packages or kits of targets that align with predefined drills. A kit is a template specifying which targets, layouts, and materials are needed to run a specific drill or set of drills. Kits can be used as-is or customized by adding/removing targets.
Motivation
- Lowers the barrier to running drills — users don’t have to figure out what targets to buy or how to set them up
- Creates a natural product tie-in: T.REX ARMS sells the physical targets, RDP tells you which ones you need
- Standardization enables meaningful score comparison (see Official vs custom kit scoring)
- Templates with customization give flexibility without overwhelming new users
Open Questions
- Is a kit a standalone entity or part of a drill definition?
- Can users create and share their own kits?
- How are kits displayed — visual layout diagram, simple parts list, or both?
- Should kits link to a product catalog (T.REX ARMS store) for purchasing targets?
- How does this interact with the drill builder?
- Are kits versioned? If a kit changes, do existing drills reference the old version?
