Persona Settings
Idea
A configurable onboarding checklist that lets new or existing users set up their persona — selecting options that tailor their experience. Think of it as a profile setup wizard that adjusts what the user sees and how the app behaves based on their role, interests, and equipment.
Motivation
- Different users have very different needs (church security volunteer vs. LE training officer vs. competitive shooter)
- A one-size-fits-all UI wastes screen space on irrelevant features
- Onboarding that asks the right questions builds confidence that the product understands the user’s world
- Settings can drive defaults: preferred scoring profiles, drill categories, notification preferences
Open Questions
- What options are in the checklist? Role, weapon types, organization type, training frequency, goals?
- Is this a one-time onboarding flow, or always editable in settings?
- How much should persona affect the UI? Just defaults, or actual feature gating?
- Should orgs be able to pre-configure persona settings for their members?
- Does this relate to the existing Personas doc, or is it a distinct user-facing concept?
